SUPPORT THAT CAN ADAPT

When a check-in
isn’t quite enough.

If your high school or college student needs more hands-on help planning the week or working through next steps, their coaching agreement can shift to a weekly in-person or virtual session.

These sessions are billed at the tutoring rate of $50/hour. Discuss the change with Ambrea so the session format and rate are clear before making the switch.

DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

You see the effort.
You see the struggle.

These sample situations show how support could help. They are illustrative examples, not client stories or guaranteed outcomes.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL · TUTORING

“I can’t do it”
comes too quickly.

Your child gets discouraged when schoolwork feels difficult and needs you beside them to keep trying. Tutoring gives them time to ask questions, practice the basics, and work through small steps with encouragement.

The focus: building skills and confidence ↗
MIDDLE SCHOOL · TUTORING

Homework stretches
through the evening.

Your child keeps asking for help with the same kind of problem. In tutoring, Ambrea can work through an example, explain the confusing step, and let your child practice it themselves.

The focus: understanding the next step ↗
HIGH SCHOOL · COACHING

You’re giving
the same reminders.

Your teen has assignments to finish but struggles to get started. Coaching can help turn those deadlines into smaller tasks and a weekly plan, with check-ins to review progress.

The focus: making the week manageable ↗
COLLEGE · COACHING

They’re on their own.
You still want to help.

Your college student is adjusting to a less structured schedule. Coaching can help them plan study time, prioritize assignments, and practice taking responsibility for their week.

A FEW HELPFUL DETAILS

Questions parents ask.

How is coaching different from tutoring?

Tutoring helps elementary and middle school students understand and practice their schoolwork. High school and college coaching focuses on planning, time management, and accountability.

What’s included in weekly coaching?

The $25/week option includes one check-in and planning session. The $35/week option includes two check-ins and planning sessions. Both include a group text with the student and parents. Check-ins are virtual and/or asynchronous, depending on the coaching arrangement.

What if I’m not sure which service my child needs?

Start with what you’re noticing. Difficulty understanding a lesson points toward tutoring; difficulty organizing tasks or following through points toward coaching. An initial conversation can help clarify the fit for your child’s school level.

How are parents involved in coaching?

Both coaching options include a group text with the student and parents. This creates a shared place to discuss the plan and check in while the student practices taking responsibility for their work.

Are sessions online or in person?

Tutoring takes place onsite in our education lab, with online sessions available in some cases. Coaching check-ins are virtual and/or asynchronous—meaning the student and Ambrea can exchange messages and respond at different times, without meeting live.

What if my high school or college student needs more hands-on support?

A coaching agreement can shift to a weekly in-person or virtual session for more hands-on planning and support. These sessions use the tutoring rate of $50/hour, rather than the weekly check-in rate. The change is discussed with Ambrea before switching.

What experience does Ambrea bring?

Ambrea is a degreed teacher with 27 years of experience in education, tutoring, mentoring, and coaching. Her background also includes 15 years in executive PTA leadership, community involvement and leadership, and fundraising for school organizations. She puts education first and is passionate about supporting children and students.
